It has been a very long time since i have last blogged. What spurred me to post, i guess it goes back to the recent New Years Eve celebrations and what not, whilst sending Amy back to her apartment in my car, we were visited by the local residents association doing a neighborhood patrol against vice, and they came up to my car which had its headlights on the windows clear and the engine on in a public area waving their flashlights. Upon seeing this thinking nothing of it i lowered my window to see what the particular member of the patrol wanted, He saw Amy in the car just getting ready to go up to her apartment and asked if she and I were married, to which i replied no we are not and i am just dropping her off and that we were having a conversation before being so rudely interrupted, His response, "Drop her off and be on your way or we will call JAIS (the state religious authorities) to which i replied Call them. Amy not wishing to aggravate the situation decided it was better for her to exit the car and go up to her apartment.
The next morning i awake to the news that in one of the north eastern states 52 couples were apprehended by the states religious authorities for riding in tandem Male/Female claiming that it is in breach of the state religious laws on close proximity. Now here is the issue, unless you suspect these couples on motorcycles are jerking each other off whilst they are riding in tandem, what right have you to impede on another persons personal rights in the name of a higher moral authority.
Malaysia is slowly becoming an IslamoFascist state and the problem is that the moderate muslims are allowing to become so, they are allowing the rise of moral and "religious" policing in contravention to federal laws that state that a person may not be deprived of liberty by any other authority besides that of the police or the military. But yet Malays act like sheep to the slaughter in fear of what their society will say or What some dude in a white headdress will say God's will is. Islam is a religion of peace but it has long been besmirched by the Idiocy of Man

MH17?
As you can see by the title this post is related to the MH17 tragedy. I believe that this tragedy is the fault of both Russia and the United States, call me a conspiracy theorist, but don't you find it suspect that a Malaysian Plane was shot down just after Malaysia came out in the UN and condemned their inaction with regards to the current Gaza crisis.
What saddens me the most though is that the investigation will most likely be extremely one sided as Malaysia has not expressed any desire to work together with Russia. This saddens me because right now everyone is blaming Pro-Russian Separatists for the issue, but yet they are not seeking any form of proper clarification from Putin's administration. Dato' Seri Najib, if you happen to be reading this (which i doubt) please take into consideration the idea that you need both Russia and the United States to help in the investigation in order for a more rounded view. The Malaysian people are sad, but what is most important is the current crisis management steps that need to be implemented.
Condolences to all affected by this crisis.

Non-violence?
In the history of self determination and independence, the role of non-violent struggle has always been seen as the reason behind its success. However if we truly look at how these nations truly were able to be free you will realise that the biggest catalyst to its success was the violent struggle. Take the example of South Africa, the ANC and the Blacks began by using peaceful methods of public disobedience, but after so long it proved to account for nothing. Only when they were radicalized, and started committing acts of violence did people really start listening to them. Then only when they returned back to the idea of non-violent struggle, did the world go "hey, they used to be violent, but now they're being non-violent, so lets rally behind them". My point is the idea of non-violent struggle is always credited for helping nations achieve self-determination and independence but no one ever stops to think about the main catalyst, violence.
Even in India during its struggle for independence, Mahatma Gandhi was very adamant about keeping to non-violence, however not many people see that behind the scenes, the violence from the radicalized followers of Mahatma Gandhi, played a large part in securing the Independence. This brings me to the idea of how this is similar to how we celebrate ex-drug addicts who managed to rehabilitate themselves. For those of us who have never taken drugs, when we say we have never taken drugs society is like okay whatever, but suddenly a ex-drug addict says he has been off the pipe and clean for three months we celebrate him and congratulate him.
We humans as a society are a complicated bunch, when a group that deviates chooses to return to the norms we celebrate them, but when we ourselves have stuck to the norm for most of our lives it is seen as "oh okay, thats normal". The moral of the story is nonviolent struggle will only succeed if there is a period of violence that predates it.

Sincerely,

Faith?
This may not be a popular opinion amongst many of my fellow muslims but i feel i must rant about it. When it comes to practicing your faith i believe that each person has their own special way of doing so, even so i agree that there are certain observances that all of us follow particularly when it comes to the Salat. However recently i have seen on facebook that there are certain parties that wish to correct how a female performs the Salat, because apparently if they don't follow it their submissions are not going to be accepted by the almighty. Now Islam claims to be a religion that eases its followers but yet now their are parties that wish to say that if you do not pray in a certain way suddenly your prayer is not going to be accepted. Now i believe that regardless of your faith, belief as well as Mazhab that if you submit yourself before the Almighty, how you do so is none of other peoples business. What matters is that you do it with the pure intention of submitting before the Almighty. Intentions are what legitimises your submissions not how you submit.

An Open Letter To Most of my Countrymen with Half a Brain
Dear sir's and Madams,
Recently the whole issue on the word "Allah" has been thrust into the limelight of our local media, where a raid by the Selangor Religious Department (JAIS) illegally apprehended members of the Bible society of Malaysia, on the reason of them distributing bibles that still referred to God as "Allah". Now there are stories of a protest that is going to be conducted whilst Christians are having their Sunday Mass by a group of Muslims. Since when did we revert to the days of Ignorance a.k.a Jahilliyah, why are we so worried that the usage of a word such as Allah will corrode the faith of the Muslims. Why is it that we are repeating the mistakes of the Catholics in the 15th Century that is the religious Inquisition, too root out "threats" to the faith.
Why do we always force others to accept our dominance, for is not the most dominant one the God of our faith. Does not God, Allah, Yahweh or whatever you choose to call the supreme being, say that we must respect one another, and not fight amongst each other. My friends what is needed is more critical thought over our own actions, we should not condemn those who we feel are wrong just because they are of a different belief than us, instead we should engage each other in dialogue and we will see that there is no difference between us. Alas, i know the people who really need to be enlightened by these words i have written will not be enlightened as they are too busy fanning the flames of hate and ignorance, but for those who do, please take a moment to ponder as to the beauty of all religions and how all religions are in fact one regardless of the semantics and distinctions that are made by those who claim to know better, for did not the supreme being give us all minds to think with.
Shalom Aleichem, Asalamualaikum, and Peace be Upon you all.

Prices?
Recently there has been a widespread feeling of dissatisfaction among the people of my country, due to the rise in costs of living. So much so that it led to the recently concluded "TURUN" rally which supposedly was to urge the government to lower living costs. My problem in the whole scheme of things is that 1) I agree the government should do something to keep the economy afloat and the price increase is justifiable to a certain extent. However at the same time this brings me to problem number 2) The government should also start cutting the salaries of the members of parliament, and other higher ranking officials who are earning salaries higher than 15K a month as well as stop this need for government aid to the people because this is what is draining our economy in the first place.
In addition to this issue, I personally believe that members of the opposition should not even participate in events such as "TURUN" because they too are partly the reason why the country is going arse over tit. They earn just as much as the Government officials do, but yet because it is a "Government" decision to increase prices they feel that they can latch on to the feeling of dissatisfaction for their own gains. At the end of this diatribe i feel that there is a need for everyone to have some minor knowledge about economics because then and only then can they rationally decide whether or not the price hikes are justified instead of just jumping on the band wagon because prices have risen.

Words?
What is the point of telling people things when they just choose to ignore whatever it is you are saying, even if what you are saying has a legitimate basis. Why are humans so fucking arrogant that they cannot bring themselves to accept the experienced opinions of those who have legitimate views. At the end of time all that happens is someone is "wrong" and has to apologize for being wrong even though they have had a legitimate point when the discussion started off. These days unless you come from some fancy university or have money or title no one listens to what you say. Everyone is too fucking arrogant to accept the possibilities proposed by others because said possibilities do not conform to the institutionally set possibilities...

Corruption?
Recently there has been a documentary about how the current chief minister of Sarawak is basically selling the natural resources of the state to the highest bidder while lining his pockets. The question is why the fuck do the westerners care so much about the corruption here?
The Sarawakians aren't dumb they know that the current Chief Minister is a massive douche, the thing is what does exposing the corruption help, Logging is still going to happen regardless of whether or not the "white hair" is in power. Furthermore what right to these outsiders have to criticize us when they haven't the balls to criticize their own governments. Look at the United States, if they really wanted to do something positive for indigenous communities then why don't they give back all the land stolen from the Native Americans.
Corruption is Human Nature, regardless of what all the idealists say no one is free from corruption, So instead of making documentaries highlighting the negative political aspects of a country you have no business being involved in, how's about you focus on making documentaries of people trying to make the nation a better place or even better get of their arses and come to the streets of KL when the sun goes down and volunteer yourselves.

Voting?
The concept of voting in this nation makes me laugh to my core, Everyone seems to think that hey the governments really bad that's why we should go and vote for the opposition and counter the votes of the illegal immigrants. But really are you people truly voting for a better country or are you voting because you want to give another corrupt regime the chances of making their already fat wallets overflow.
People ask me why I am not going back to vote, and I always reply "No, what benefit does it give me knowing that regardless of what happens whether one party wins or the other party wins, the only one's who benefit are the politicians who get into power?" Then people choose to disregard me because since I am not voting I have no right to criticize the government right?.. Wrong, regardless of whether I vote or not I still have a right to criticize what the "power" holders do. I pay taxes in that i pay taxes on the things I consume in my daily life, this gives me a stake in what I want to see the government truly focus on.
I love my country, but if I was ever going to vote it would be to vote for myself.

Politics?
Just a few days ago a prominent politician came to Sarawak and participated in a talk just outside the campus of my university. Why that area? The answer is that it is a very student populated area, again cheap theatrics for politicians to garner votes. All so they can come into government and line their pockets. It makes me sick how influenced youths can get these days. Politics is the second oldest profession in the world the first being prostitution. it shows how morally abhorrent politics really is. politicians are second to prostitutes and most politicians really are prostitutes, because they sell themselves to the people with money aka the corporations or other states.
In my opinion the only true form of perfect governance is a form of idealist socialism in which adhering to the true essence of Marxism there would be no government but rather a system where everyone monitors each other's professional lives and their private lives are regulated by the individuals themselves unless it violates the UN charter of Human rights. Which is why I support the Idea of Voter Apathy. Why vote for a government who lines their pockets whilst their are people suffering on the streets. Yes I agree the government has done a lot for the people, maintaining the various subsidies and providing resources for the people however if these politicians contributed at least 25% of their salary and money they receive from their "business" deals to progressing the State, I would be less inclined to be apathetic to politics however I doubt it will ever change because Human Nature is just so fucked up.

Why?
Why do we allow religion to dictate our lives and our state?
The recent attack on Gaza and the response has shown me religion is just a tool used by bureaucrats in bowler hats to inflame the masses. Looking back at this issue of Israel-Palestine both states are in the wrong and this conflict is further enhanced by the growing "Islamisation" of the middle eastern region. The quotation marks on the word i use above serves the simple purpose of showing how the bureaucrats use peoples fears and beliefs to control them, the fear of not being a good muslim or even the fear of deviating from the norms of that state, this is what allows these regimes to control the will, beliefs and movement of its people.
This we can see in this "dear" country of mine if i may be so bold. which claims to be a country that allows the freedom to profess any religion so long as you don't propagate to a muslim. Now the question here is why not propagate to a muslim? if that muslim is so staunch in his faith how can he be led astray, furthermore doesn't this allow for much healthier discourse between faiths?, doesn't this also allow for the expansion of ideas? Look at Al-Andalus in it's prime where everyone lived peacefully and this discourse of knowledge was so vast that it encouraged the construction of the worlds most beautiful library in Cordova.
Again the idea of non-propagation to muslims is not only harmful but also extremely hypocritical. Why you may ask? because in my lifetime i have never heard prayers blasted over a loudspeaker by a christian preacher, or a hindu priest or even a buddhist monk, but yet all mosques use these loudspeakers not only for the call to prayer but to also preach especially in University hostels, which although consist of majority muslims still has a sizeable non-muslim community. Is this not "forceful" propagation of islam? I am all for preachers giving their sermons in mosques but when they preach over a loudspeaker to the general populace i believe this is a forceful propagation of ideas.
Islam is a religion of peace and acceptance but today we can only be known as extremists or Jihadists.
To whoever reads this, this is my own personal view and I am entitled to it as are you entitled to yours, if i have said something disagreeable then comment and we can have healthy discourse.
Ciao.

Justice?
The idea of justice on an international level is a very biased idea, in the sense that the only crimes that are investigated are the crimes of individuals in middle eastern, African and Asian countries and very few western countries. Why? because no matter how much the UN claims to be unbiased they are still subservient to America due to their status as a "superpower" but really what merits them this status? the only thing they have is guns and obesity, the only time they contribute to "humanitarian" aid is when it can bring positive effects to them a.k.a control of oil reserves.
So why don't we have a International Criminal Court that is truly international in the sense that all countries superpowers included must adhere to the Rome statute and criminals from countries such as America, Great Britain. Germany and such are also tried at this level. won't this situation show the essence of true and unbiased international Law
Heshalom aleichem.

Malay?
What is a Malay? According to the Government approved version of the Islamic and Asian Civilisation reference book the Malay Civilisation is characterized by 3 things, firstly the race that is the genetic similarities in a person originating from the Malay archipelago, secondly the language in which the people converse and finally my personal favourite, Culture, which defined in said reference book is the beliefs and actions based on the Islamic faith and Malay traditions...Now the Malay community arrived in the archipelago some 5000 years ago and they only became "civilized" by the coming of Islam in the 12th century.
This Is the biggest load of falsehoods to ever reach my ears, The Malay civilization was originally a civilization based on the Hindu faith, Unfortunately many Malays choose to forget that they were all descended from Hindu's somewhere in their ancestry and further state that the Indians are the ones who took on "Malay" traditions for themselves.
There is no such thing as a pure Malay... and i would even go as far a saying that there is no such thing as a "Malay civilization" because the only true "Malay civilizations" are those community's of aboriginal people who were chased from their homes by individuals wishing to expand their influence on the land that was so rich with resources.
So what is a Malay?
I wish to understand and not be told the Constitutional definition of a Malay because if you used that definition a group of chinese migrants who came to Malaya in the 1800's and started family's which then converted to Islam and mastered the Malay language can also be called Malay.

Knowledge?
The knowledge of human society has been in academia since the early ages of the world in the Greek civilization. However it has slowly been modified to fit the current era of thought. Unfortunately we see that this knowledge is not one that is being properly developed thanks in part to the role of religion in this day and age. However the use of religion to prevent the development of this area of knowledge is not a new concept. Socrates was sentenced to death for questioning why things were the way they were in his time, he irritated a few greek officials with his questions and this resulted in him being sentenced to drinking a concoction of hemlock and other poisonous substances.
We see that today the exact same is happening, when a person questions the role of their governments they are deemed as radicals and are either imprisoned or charged with sedition, blasphemy and so on. After more than 2000 years of civilization we are still repeating the mistakes of the past, we are still regressing for fear of advancement.
Religion in its essence should be a sponge rather than its current state in which it rejects any foreign ideas no matter how logical they are. For example the Quran, it was given to the Prophet Mohammad p.b.u.h to advance the people of his era. However as the era's evolved we see that the Quran too has evolved that is in the aspect of what people interpret it to say. When in the Prophet's time women's rights were upheld we see that today in secular Muslim societies that the rights of the women are being oppressed. When a new idea or interpretation of the Quran is suggested, the person who suggested it is deemed a heretic, an infidel by the powers of authority who managed to rule thanks to their own interpretation of the Quran.
Now I am not saying that Islam is a terrible religion, nor am I saying other religions are better or worse, I am just stating that mankind has always used all necessary means to have control over the masses, and this in fact is a hard truth that many people refuse to accept.
My wish is that people would allow the unrestricted flow of knowledge because then the world would be a much better place.
With that I rest my case

Scared?
Its funny how people these days are so scared of what other's might think, Scared of the social stigma that may inflict them should they refuse to conform. The funniest thing is that this fear is used by people in authority to control these scared individuals. I will be talking of course on the issues pertaining to Starbucks being Haram, Yoga being Haram, and whatever else the current "educated" religious individuals decide to put a Fatwa on.....
First let me contextualize, a few days ago i was walking back from class with my classmate when she complained that she was hungry and wanted to eat McDonald's, I thinking nothing of it went and mockingly said "Eeeeh Cannot, McDonald's is Haram" and guess what she believed me and started panicking... This is what I mean by fear the simple labelling of the word Haram on something that has been the norm for quite some time. The fact that once someone educated says something is Haram, people will believe it, furthermore people coming out with factsheets explaining why something is Haram, here I will refer to the posts in the social media a few months back that Coca-Cola had Alcohol in it, and the problem is that even well educated individuals end up believing it too because it's what society believes.
Starbucks is Haram because people claimed that by buying a latte mochachino frappe you are giving money to the "Yahudi" to continue their "oppression" of Palestine, and this is what a large majority believed, Yoga is Haram because by doing yoga we are apparently praising Hindu deities and becoming apostates. These are all misconceptions that are strewn about willy-nilly and in a way it becomes a form of control for these people who have the authority to declare something Haram and come out with a Fatwa on it.
Fatwa's are being issued so fervently and frequently that its so easy to question the reason's why, however due to the fear of supposed "Divine Punishment" people don't question and further narrow their minds and regress back into the stone age if i may be so bold.
Basically people are so scared of supposed "religious authority" that they forgo the natural phenomena call logic and reasoning
I belive that is all i have to say on this topic

What?
What is the most primordial thing that pushes a person to do something? Throughout history there have been many explanations ranging from genetics all the way to divine presence. Each theory has had its loopholes but one theory that I feel is the most flawed is the theory of divine presence. In recent years the number of crimes and accidents attributed to supposed divine presence has increased dramatically for example the burning of the artist who made a parody of the prophet Muhammad, pictures of his charred body have been circulating throughout the social media i.e Facebook with explanations that he was burned by god for insulting the Prophet. This I feel is a gross misconception because what proof is there that God had a hand in the burning of the artists house while he was in it? taking a line from Ricky Gervaisie How do these people know that it was an act of God to they have a hotline that connects straight to God to ask him?
I question not the belief in God but the mediums used to encourage that belief in God a.k.a Religion, Each religion preaches loving your fellow man no matter what colour, race, ethnicity or creed but yet they call those who do not adhere to their religion infidels and wage a Jihad on their asses, I mean where is the logic in that, its like going to your neighbour who's chinese and saying hey i love you man and then taking a scalpel and cutting off his eyelids so he has big round eyes like everyone else.
I know people say Religion doesn't kill people, people kill people, but religion is the reason why people kill people.
i guess that's basically it, I may be back to write about more random things, til then
Ciao.
